About the Author – Melissa J. Walker
I grew up in North Louisiana and enjoyed summer vacations in the West. After receiving my B.A. and M.A. degrees from Colorado College, I worked for over two decades in the Pikes Peak Region as the Lead Park Naturalist for Bear Creek Nature Center, North Cheyenne CaƱon Park, Beidleman Environmental Center and Garden of the Gods Park, and now serve on the Board of Friends of Garden of the Gods Park. I hike, bird watch and snowshoe as often as possible and enjoy writing about my experiences to share with you.

Melissa,
This is great! What a fabulous vehicle for your talents.

Dear Melissa:
I’ve meant to tell you how much I enjoy your blog and photos. One day, I keep telling myself, I will go snowshoeing.
And thanks for reading The Middle Distance. I loved our comment today. Thank God for memories of exuberant youthful friendships to get us through.
Blessings,
